What is College Portrait and how it can assist you

College Portrait is a nation-wide voluntary system that assists students and parents in comparing colleges. Through a set of standard questions and a common template the College Portrait format allows direct comparison on selected information between colleges. Simply compare answers to the same questions from College Portrait page to another, of the schools you are interested in.

UC Riverside's College Portrait site assists users in two ways to access the report: online Flash pages for reading and PDF (which may be downloaded and printed). We have also included a page of important terms used in the College Portrait report to help in understanding the assumptions and criteria used to compile the data. Read the College Portrait assessment, we think you will be impressed by our combination of excellence, opportunity and value that comes from a public university.

College Portrait at a Glance

As one of the most diverse universities in the country, UC Riverside not only welcomes students from a wide range of backgrounds but provides programs and opportunities necessary for their success. Our Financial Aid Office is committed to making it possible for all admitted students to be able to attend UCR. Last year, over 73% of UCR undergraduates who applied for need-based assistance were awarded some kind of financial aid. UCR students choose from over 80 undergraduate majors and nearly 300 student organizations. In addition, over 76% of our undergraduates participate in research projects that enhance their academic experience. Our success is reflected in our graduation rates (average time to degree for incoming freshman is just over 4 years), and in the achievements of our many distinguished alumni , including Nobel Prize winner Richard Schrock and Pulitzer Prize winner Steven Breen.
